Standing orders
Mandatory workplace conduct and service-condition rules under the Industrial Relations Code, now required for establishments with 300+ workers, up from the earlier 100-worker threshold.
Standing orders formalise conditions of employment — classification of workers, shift rules, leave, termination procedure. They must be certified with the labour department once an establishment crosses the worker threshold.
The IR Code raised the mandatory-standing-orders threshold from 100 to 300 workers, mirroring the retrenchment-permission threshold change, and removing the requirement for a large band of mid-sized employers.
Why it matters now: establishments that grew past 100 but stay under 300 workers no longer need certified standing orders. It’s worth revisiting HR policy documents built around the old trigger.
